8 Best logo generators for new startups
Recently I chose a name for my brand (Masvel). Another task in the backlog is to create a logo. I've tried to create logos for personal use several times in my life and I know it's not an easy task at all. When you start reading about logo creation, you may feel overwhelmed. I think it is even more complicated than creating a brand name. There are thousands of articles, books, and other sources that describe theories related to the logo creation process. Of course, psychology plays a big role here, because the logo is meant to get deep into people's minds, and many advanced techniques are used for that. As usual, I'm on my own, I'm limited in time and I'm developing the MVP of the product, so I'm going to spend literally a quarter of an hour getting to know the basics in this area, and then I'm going to go right into operation.
How to design a logo?
So the simplest question I can ask is How to design a logo?
And I'm already overwhelmed with a ton of recommendations that google gives me, but I choose the most interesting one. I can read from it the steps I have to take to create my logo.
- Understand why you need a logo
- Define your brand identity
- Find inspiration for your design
- Check out the competition
- Choose your design style
- Find the right type of logo
- Pay attention to color
- Pick the right typography
- Communicate with your designer
- Evaluate your logo options
- What not to do when designing a logo
- Integrate your logo design into your brand
Types of logo
It is also interesting what kind of logo we have. It turns out, that there are several of them. More about types of logos you can read here.
- Abstract
- Mascot
- Combination
- Emblem
- Lettermark (Monogram)
- Pictorial (Symbol)
- Wormark (Logotype)

After this short research, I can gather my first conclusions. First of all, I will be heading towards a logotype that will use the brand name, because it is undoubtedly the easiest form of the logo to create. The simplest, meaning the least time consuming, but also minimalist and I will want to keep this convention of a blog. At the moment I will decide on a black logo, which will be the most classic and universal, but while creating it I will have in the back of my head to use a tool that will allow me to quickly edit the color of the logo. As far as the font type is concerned, I imagine it should be sans-serif, going more towards the display type. I don't want it to be as simple as Arial, but I also don't want it to be too bizarre, so I'll go for a modification of classic fonts. And so much for the assumptions. I think it is time to try to create something interesting.
Best logo generators
Unfortunately, most generators available on the market are paid for. Yes, there are also such free, but they offer low-quality services. In my opinion, the best (paid and unpaid) generator logos are those below:
In this case, I do not intend to use these tools to design and purchase a logo. They will serve as an inspiration because I will probably be able to make the final logo myself. So after a long time of playing with different generators, I had a vision of the logo I would like to create. All I had to do was to choose the right font, and Google Fonts is irreplaceable. Additionally, having in the back of my head what I said earlier about changing colors, I created a mini project for Code Sandbox, in which I both designed the logo and will be able to easily change its colors in the future.

Summary
And this is it. As you can see, the logotype is ultra simple and minimalistic, but it took me 4 hours to learn about the basics of the logo creation process, find the right tools, look for inspiration and create the final logotype. Of course, I don't show here the logos, which in the meantime were created as drafts, but there were a few of them. I'm satisfied with the work done and I can confidently move on to the next task.
